This past Christmas the FAA received a lawsuit challenging the new UAV registration requirements. On February 17th the FAA received a second lawsuit regarding the same issue. The new registration rules have been hitting a nerve with many pilots because the new registry would make publicly available the names and addresses of every registered pilot on the list. This new rule would apply the children as young as 13 years of age which is the main reason many pilots are upset about the FAAs new registration policy.
According the FAA there are more than 342,000 people currently registered with the new system. This second lawsuit is claiming the FAA failed to provide the public with notice of the new regulation and an opportunity for comment before it was implemented.
